The Core Teaching of Jesus Christ
His View of God, of People and the 'Kingdom of Heaven'

Many things are believed about Jesus Christ – who he was and what he did or did not do. What he taught is even more diverse in the popular opinions of people around the world. For those claiming to be followers of Christ, understanding his teachings is foundational to belief in God himself, and to forming a Christ-centered world view. This class will focus on a few of Jesus' central messages, if not THE core message of his gospel.
Do you know why Jesus preached a core message of repentance? Was his view of God different from his fellow Jews and Rabbi's of the 1st century? Is his view of God the same as yours? (You might be surprise.) Did he view people as basically good or basically depraved, or did he not even talk in those dichotomized terms – and does that really matter? Are you confident that you could explain to someone else exactly what Jesus meant when he used the terms “the Kingdom of God” or “the Kingdom of Heaven”? Does discussion about such things do any 'earthly good'?
It has been said “what comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us. The history of mankind will probably show that no people has ever risen above its religion, and man's spiritual history will positively demonstrate that no religion has ever been greater than its idea of God. For this reason the gravest question before the Church is always God Himself, and the most portentous fact about any man is not what he at a given time may say or do, but what he in his deep heart conceives God to be like.” Come see what Jesus revealed God to be like.
