Q&A with One of SFC's First Responders to the Gulf Coast
|
| Karen Thompson is a SFC volunteer who recently
returned from the Gulf Coast. |
| Q: Share with us
what you experienced on your trip, and how it compared to your
expectations. |
| Karen: The devastation
was much worse than I could have imagined; however, the resilience
of the residents was amazing. I can go into much detail about so
many things, but the one thing that is the most prevalent is the
obvious presence of God. His band of angels was always protecting
us. I was blessed minute by minute. My expectation was that I knew
God had something in store for me. |
| Q: What advice
would you share with others who are considering a trip to the Gulf
Coast, and to those who volunteer their time here locally |
| Karen: Advice: Let go
and let God. I strongly urge people to go. It will change your life. |
| Q: How has your
time spent serving in the Gulf Coast changed you? |
| Karen: God reminded me
how present He is today and how much He loves His children. |
