Williams is the Executive Director of Mount Hermon Christian Camps
and Conference Center. Mount Hermon is located in the redwoods of
California's Santa Cruz Mountains, and the conference center and
four youth camps-Redwood Camp, Ponderosa Lodge, Whisper Canyon and
Kidder Creek Camp-accommodate more than 1500 guests. Three of the
facilities operate on a year-round basis with a full-time staff of
more than 70.
Prior to assuming the Directorship of Mount Hermon in 1993, Roger
served as the Executive Director of three other Christian camps and
conference centers. He has been involved in camping ministry for
more than 25 years.
Roger, and his wife Rachel, met while serving on camp summer
staff during college. They have been married 37 years and have two
daughters-Sara and Joy. Sara is a graduate of Fuller Seminary in
Pasadena and is a Pastor on the staff of Faith Community Church in
Santa Cruz. In 2003, Sara married Jeremy Bentley who is Assistant
Director of Adult Ministries at Mount Hermon and also a graduate of
Fuller Seminary with a Master of Theology. They live at Mount
Hermon. Joy is a contemporary Christian recording artist who has
been nominated for multiple Dove awards while under contract with
Reunion Records. Joy continues to maintain a concert ministry while
working full-time as a songwriter. In 2004, Joy married Nathan
Yetton and they are making their home in Nashville, Tennessee.
After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Michigan State University
with a degree in communication, Roger studied theology at the
University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He then returned to the U.S.
where he studied at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School while
employed by the seminary. After seminary, he served as a Legislative
Assistant to Congressman John Dellenback in Washington, D.C. When
the Congressman left office after his fourth term, Roger assumed a
marketing management position with Computer Science Corporation
where he eventually directed the company's business division
marketing efforts in five Midwestern states.
Roger speaks often throughout the United States and serves on
numerous boards. He also serves on the national Council for Civil
Society and is a published author. His life mission echoes that of
Mount Hermon, namely "to make a difference in people's lives
for Jesus Christ." |
