Men's Retreat - January 30 and 31st

God's Stimulus Package for Personal Growth

Don't miss our exciting Men's Retreat coming up on January 30th and 31st at Mission Springs in Scotts Valley featuring Roger Williams as our speaker.
Roger Williams spoke recently at Saratoga Federated Church on the "Prodigal Son" and earned many praises. Our Men's Retreat, will feature Roger speaking on four topics followed by four small group discussion periods. His topics are:
  • "The Imperative of Forgiving…One of the Hardest Challenges Men Face" (Matthew 18:21-35)
  • The Pathology of the Blame Virus…Escaping Its Symptoms and Learning to Trust" (I Peter 2:21-23)
  • "Released to Love…Even People You Find Difficult to Like!" (John 13:34-35)
All men are welcome and we urge you to invite your friends and colleagues that might be searching for answers in a quiet environment with other men.

You need to know:

  • Check in Friday January 30th beginning 4:00 pm at Mission Springs retreat center
  • See a map and driving directions by typing "map" in the search box on the Mission Springs website
  • Price $135.00 that includes four meals, lodging and snacks
  • Retreat will end with dinner Saturday night the 31st.
  • Sign up at the Men's Ministry table in the courtyard or email Olivia. Payment will be due by January 10th.

Breakfasts & Events

Mark your calendars for the third Saturdays of the months to come. Our breakfasts start at 7:30 am and end at 9:00 am to give you time with your families. Everyone agrees that these breakfasts are designed by men for men and bring a combination of valuable fellowship, interesting speakers and great food!
Breakfast still comes to you at the low low price of $8.00 and we will have you out by 9:00 AM so you can enjoy the day with your families. Many of you are using this occasion to bring a colleague, a friend or a neighbor and this is great! It is always a low key event to help reach out to others.
Because our normal breakfast would have been the Saturday before Christmas in December we decided that would be a conflict with all the other Christmas activities and therefore we will not have a breakfast in December. Don't forget our retreat coming up January 30 and 31st at Mission Springs. Breaking news is that Roger Williams will be our leader for the retreat!
Extra! A peek at the future! Our Men's Ministries group is putting together a trip to the "Shark's Tank". March 28th. We are planning an afternoon and evening at the HP Pavilion including the game, food and speakers. More details to come in the next newsletters. Consider all your sports fan friends, colleagues and put it on your calendar now.

History

Saratoga Federated Church's (SFC) Men's Fellowship program began in 1960, with a constitution that defined the program's purpose "to promote Christian fellowship among the men of the Church and their families, and give opportunities for service and spiritual growth." The group initially met Sunday mornings for breakfast before church. In 1976, a set of guidelines was added to describe us as a group that helps men fulfill their roles as Christians; that provides a way to bring newcomers into fellowship; and nourishes small group interaction where men can learn to live more effectively as Christians.
