| Dear Saratoga Federated Parents and
Students, |
| On June 3rd we will say goodbye to John
Armendariz, our Jr. High Coordinator. John has served our students
for the past 3-1/2 years and has done an excellent job working with
our young people, challenging them to follow God with their whole
heart. John brought with him new and innovative programs and a
passion to teach God's word. He has made a difference in our
students, our parents, our community and staff. We celebrate with
John as he leaves and look forward to seeing how God will use him in
the future. Please join us after church on Sunday, June 3rd at noon
in Richards Hall for a celebration of John's ministry. |
| As you know, for the past ten years it has been our
hope at SFC to train and equip young adults in full time ministry.
Our Jr. High Coordinator assignment is a 2-3 year position designed
to provide training and oversight for those who want to experience
full-time ministry for the first time. It is exciting news that in
the last ten years we have been blessed with 4 Jr. high staff, 3
high school staff, and 86 interns who have all been trained by our
Student Ministry staff. |
| With that in mind, it is our pleasure to introduce
our new Jr. High Coordinator, Matthew Bleckley. Matth is a recent
graduate of Azusa Pacific University with a major in Youth Ministry.
He grew up in Oakland and is excited to come back to the bay area.
Matthew has had many experiences working with teenagers and others
through church internships in both Children and Youth ministries.
Currently, he is a staff intern in Student Ministries at New Life
Community church in Pomona. He also has been on staff at Mission
Springs, located in Scotts Valley and has a long-standing background
in AWANA. (Ask him to quote you a Bible verse!) Matthew has recently
made a trip to Japan and serving on a short-term mission team. After
spending quality time with Matthew, along with staff and Student
Ministry families at SFC, both Jason and I believe that Matthew is
the right person to lead our Jr. High students in the coming years. |
| You need to know that Matthew is excited to come to
SFC and enthusiastic for this new opportunity: |
"Being from the Bay Area, I am so happy to be returning
to the scenery and lifestyle and variety of activities this
location offers. I also am excited to be in a place where I was
very active growing up, understanding the culture and the constant
changes. Saratoga Federated will provide a great experience as
well as a great number of resources to hone my skills in ministry.
The staff seems encouraging and helpful and the idea that I will
be able to learn and grow as a result of working with them excites
me. I am delighted at the prospect of working in a place that will
allow me to do ministry in a style unique to my personality, where
I can meet kids where they are, and shape and guide them through
life."
